An International Conference on Frontier Topics in Nanostructures and Condensed Matter Theory (NCMT-2011) is to be held March 9-11, 2011 at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. The objective of this conference is to bring together scientists and engineers working on electronics, optoelectronics, spintronics, plasmonics, and photonics to discuss the most recent theoretical developments in nanostructured materials. There will be poster presentations as well as plenary and invited talks by stalwarts in the fields. We invite very cordially researchers in the fields listed below and related areas.

March 12, 2011 - Conference a Success.

We want to thank all participants, invited speakers, and plenary speakers for making this conference a success. Not even the wild late winter snow storm could keep our invited speakers away, with Sajeev John coming in by train from Toronto, Michel Coté making a 4 hour drive from Waterloo, and Federico Rosei making the incredible trip from Montréal in time to make their Friday invited presentations. We would also again like to thank Sir Anthony Leggett for giving us two wonderful public presentations.

We hope to have some photos of the event up on this web site next week.

March 8, 2011 - Wednesday Registratation CANCELLED.

Everyone should register on Thursday morning in UCC 315. Please arrive early. Registration starts at 8:00am sharp.

Information on projection system - March 7, 2011

Presentations are being projected from a laptop PC which runs Windows 7. Please make sure that your USB stick/[external drive] is in a format that is accepted by Windows. There will no McIntosh system available. CD/DVD is also an acceptable medium.

In addition, to expedite the short presentations, please have your USB stick ready to give to organizers on the morning of the talk, if at all possible. You must bring a memory stick/external drive/CD/DVD or email your presentation. We will not be connecting your laptop to the projector system (5 minute presentations only).

Seven Day Weather Forecast - March 6, 2011

Please be advised that a late winter storm is heading our way for Wednesday evening through Saturday. They are calling for periods of rain, freezing rain, and snow. Here is the London, Ontario weather forecast.
